SAVANNAH – Florence Joyce Johnston Thompson, 90, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Hospice House.
The Bronx, NY native lived for most of her life in West Islip, Long Island, NY. After her retirement from the Estee Lauder Corporation, in Farmingdale, NY, she moved to Spring Hill, FL where she resided until moving to Habersham House in Savannah in 2003.
She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Spring Hill and an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her son, and daughter-in-law, Lester and Gaye Johnston of Savannah; four grandchildren, Lester Johnston, Jr., Jacqueline Ellett, Bridgette Ruch, and Maria Kuhn; nine great-grandchildren; and three nieces and a nephew from the Joyce family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, June 20, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini with The Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Nelson, officiant.
Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
